Christ has risen! He has risen indeed! Alleluia!!
I pray you all had a love filled Easter season! It was a beautiful three Holy Days here at Alpine and I am grateful to everyone that helped in any way. Thank you to Lynn for the extra work she put in this season, to the Altar Guild for changing the paraments and prepping the Sanctuary, the lay assistants, our custodian Jerry, and everyone else that made this Holy time go smoothly!
As I am reflecting after the Easter season, I find myself thinking about the women who went back to the tomb. The tomb….there is so much symbolism that the tomb represents. We all have a tomb that pulls us back. We all have grief, struggle, loss, pain, suffering, and times of sorrow that pull us back. Pull us away from the Good News of the resurrected Christ. Christ is not in the tomb anymore. Christ has risen from the grave. The tomb is empty. Mary and Mary went back because that is where Jesus was…but when they arrived they saw he was there no longer. They left the tomb. Only after they left did they meet Jesus on the road back. Jesus is with us in our times of pain and sorrow and suffering. But, like the women, we soon realize that Jesus does not stay there. Jesus invites us back on the path of faith and community. Jesus meets us on the road back. It is absolutely okay to visit the tomb. It is okay to sit and stay for a while. But Jesus calls us back to the road. Jesus calls us back to our communities. Jesus calls us back to declare the Good News of the empty tomb! Christ is risen! Alleluia!
Peace to you all in this time of resurrection,
Pastor Rachel
